Kansas deserves better from our Senator.

Erik is running for U.S. Senate because he knows it’s time that we stop electing the same old politicians who let our communities falter, the economy decline, and health care become less accessible and more expensive. Kansans deserve someone in the Senate who can deliver real, purposeful change for our working families and who believes hard work should be rewarded and families from every zip code should thrive.

Heartland
Proud.

Erik Murray is a proud Kansan who was born at KU Med and raised in Kansas City, Kansas. Growing up, he attended Fellowship Christian Church with his grandmother, went to St. Patrick’s Catholic School, and graduated from Sumner Academy.

Erik was taught to face challenges head-on and keep going even when others give up. Erik’s father worked his way up from poverty and went on to lead economic development in Kansas City, and his mom was a public-school teacher and administrator who instilled in him a passion for education and our schools. His parents’ example also inspired his own career as an entrepreneur. Erik started from scratch and worked his way up, building multimillion-dollar businesses and creating jobs that transform communities.

When Erik travels around Kansas, he sees communities that have been overlooked and left behind by our leaders for too long. Neighborhoods like the one he grew up in are ignored, housing and healthcare costs are skyrocketing, rural hospitals are at risk of shuttering, and the farm economy is in free fall thanks to bad decisions made by politicians in Washington, DC. All across Kansas, people are working harder than ever and getting less and less in return.

Up & Down the Ballot

The Chiefs deal is NOT a done deal.

They are asking for the expansion of the STARBOND district in Wyandotte County meaning that they aren’t projecting enough tax revenue to pay back the STARBOND.

This is good news because we still have a real chance to do something about it.

For those of you who want this deal to go away:

Reach out to Mayor Christal Watson & Commissioners in Wyandotte County asking them NOT to vote to expand the STARBOND district.

For those of you that want this deal to happen, it likely won’t happen, but there is a proposition down below that starts to create balance.

Call and email the governors office with this deal proposition:

Instead of $2.4 Billion to Clark Hunt & the Chiefs -

  • $1 Billion to cover Wyandotte County infrastructure needs to support the stadium (this is the minimum infrastructure impacts that are needed to support the stadium.)
  • $1 Billion to property tax relief for Kansans.
  • Must use local labor for 100% of the project construction.

And to determine whether or not this is driven by greed, $500 Million to Clark Hunt and the Chiefs. If he doesn’t settle for less than $2.4 Billion, it clearly demonstrates greed as motive, in which case we don’t want them in our state.
